Jalan Crossland is nationally acclaimed by audiences, critics, and his musical peers as being a premier acoustic guitarist, banjo player, singer-songwriter, and engaging showman. Along with dozens of regional contest awards, his extraordinary guitar work earned him National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship Runner Up honors and the State Flatpick Championship title of his home state. His album, “Singalongs For The Apocalypse”, won Wyoming Public Radio’s People’s Choice – Album Of The Year award. In recognition for his contribution to the arts in Wyoming, he was bestowed the Governor’s Arts Award.

The event will mark the group’s first performance under the leadership of its new conductor, Charles Tarver.

The Symphonic Band is excited to perform the Wyoming premiere of “Skyline” by Frank Gulino, a composer deeply inspired by mountain landscapes. The concert will also feature the Light Cavalry Overture by Franz von Suppe, a performance dedicated to the Sheridan College Rodeo Team; “Air” from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3; and a patriotic tribute.

The concert will open with the “Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare”, written by Richard Strauss in 1924 for the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra’s brass section.

Caroline Davis’ solo performances are chosen spontaneously, given the atmosphere of the room and the people present. She explores sonic textures offered by interactive technologies, sharing sounds from the saxophone that she considers to be distinctive and quirky. 

A 2025 Guggenheim Fellow in Composition, she is the recipient of the DownBeat Critics Poll Alto Saxophone Rising Star Award, as well as fellowships from NYFA, the Jerome Foundation, Chamber Music America, and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts. Her residencies include MacDowell, The Jazz Gallery, Civitella, and the Rockefeller Estate, and she has served as a mentor for New Music USA’s Next Jazz Legacy program.

Skyline Singers is a professional choir in residence at the Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyoming. Our specialty is a cappella music, ranging from plainsong to part-songs, madrigals to motets, and from vocal jazz to contemporary pop.
